What is Juvederm?
Juvederm is an injectable gel filler indicated for correcting volume loss caused by aging. Juvederm injectable gel is a versatile treatment line that comes in a variety of formulations.we are proud to offer a comprehensive line of Juvederm treatments, which includes: Juvederm, Juvederm Voluma, Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Vollure and Juvederm Volbella. Each formulation of Juvederm gels offers a unique combination of texture, volumization, consistency, and density. These variations are designed to give patients the fine-tuned ability to achieve the most natural-looking results depending on the presenting issue and their personal anatomy.
All Juvederm injectables are based on hyaluronic acid, which is a naturally-occurring molecule in the human body. Juvederm gel is designed with cross-linked technology, meaning the hyaluronic molecules are linked similarly to beads along a necklace with different sized beads relative to a specific type of texture.
What makes Juvederm one of the most trusted names for dermal fillers is the high-quality volumizing capabilities. The Juvederm difference is in the patented Vycross technology that achieves smoother, natural-looking results for a range of indications.
How does Juvederm Work?
A primary symptom of aging is the degradation of skin volume. Over time, your facial features can change due to the natural effects of aging, but may also be impacted by environment and lifestyle. Sharper facial features, sunken cheeks, smile lines, parenthesis lines and nasolabial folds are some of the most common symptoms of aging-related to facial volume loss.
Juvederm’s two baseline forms are Juvederm XC and Juvederm Voluma XC. There are also more specialize formulas such as Juvederm Ultra XC, Juvederm Vollure XC, and Juvederm Volbella XC.
Juvederm XC
Juvederm Ultra is designated for mild to moderate lines and folds, providing a fuller, smoother appearance that lasts six to nine months.
Juvederm Voluma XC
The Voluma XC line of Juvederm is best-suited for addressing larger, sunken areas such as the cheeks. The texture of Voluma makes it especially great for giving sunken cheeks a fuller, perkier appearance that appears natural.
Juvederm Ultra XC
Juvederm Ultra Plus is a thicker formulation of Juvederm Ultra. Juvederm Ultra Plus is formulated from larger particles that provider additional volume to treat mild to severe wrinkles and folds. Juvederm Ultra Plus’ benefits are known to last from nine months to a year.
Juvederm Vollure XC
Juvederm Vollure is great for reducing creases and lines around the nose and mouth. The medium-density texture allows Vollure to fill spaces in the skin and hold a fuller, perkier form.
Juvederm Volbella XC
Volbella is best used for creating the fullness of the lips and smoothing away vertical lip lines. This formulation of Juvederm can produce results that last up to a whole year.
Each variation of Juvederm can be used in combination or on its own depending on the goals you want to achieve. Dr. Arslanian’s training and experience will guide you through the process to determine which options will give you the best results that are right for you.
About the Treatment
The injection session may be as brief as fifteen to thirty minutes. As soon as the injections are complete, you can immediately return to your normal, daily routine.
Preparing for Treatment
Dr. Arslanian recommends patients who smoke or are taking anti-inflammatory medications to cease doing so a least a few weeks before their treatments sessions. Anti-inflammatories can make it easier to bruise and slow healing.
What does it feel like?
Juvederm injections are tolerated very well by most patients. Mostly, patients report a tingling or pinching sensation from the needle. Since Juvederm features lidocaine, a local anesthetic, there is already a pain reducing the effect.
Juvederm injections are short and comfortable. However, if patients do request additional numbing, there are topical anesthetics or nerve blocks available. Nerve blocks are numbing injections that totally block all sensation from the treatment area but can last about 4-5 hours.
What areas can be treated with Juvederm?
Juvederm is a convenient and safe injectable treatment for addressing lost volume and the aging systems it causes. For example:
- Correcting Wrinkles
- Nasolabial Folds
- Smile Lines
- Vertical Lip Lines
- Creases around the Mouth
- Volumizing Sunken Cheeks
- Smoothing Scars
- Filling Sunken Hollows Under Eyes
A complete Juvederm treatment can take as little as fifteen to twenty minutes! After your treatment, you will be on your feet and back to your daily routine without recovery or downtime.
Juvederm compared to other Dermal Fillers
Juvederm’s cross-linked hyaluronic acid provides a more stable and long lasting result due to the stability of the formulation. Also, Juvederm treatments come in a variety of specialized lines for maximum coverage and capability in addressing aging symptoms.
Juvederm vs. Botox
Although people tend to talk about Juvederm and Botox injections in the same breath, they are not the same treatments. Juvederm is a volumizing filler that adds fullness to fill sunken spaces where Botox is more of a wrinkle-prevention tool that relaxes creases and lines.
Results
Optimal Juvederm treatments remain through six months after treatment but can vary depending on the density and number of injections received during an initial session. Often, patients may choose multiple injections for an initial treatment and only require a single injection during future, maintenance treatments.
Ideal Candidates
All formulations of Juvederm are FDA-approved to treat aging symptoms such as nasolabial folds in patients with all ranges of skin tone. Patients of color can well tolerate Juvederm treatments for symptoms such as hypertrophic scarring.
Candidates should have reasonable expectations, be non-smokers and recognized that dermal fillers are not a permanent treatment.
Juvederm Cost
Each Juvederm Treatment course is customized along the patient’s goals and body. As a tailored treatment, the cost breakdowns are individualized and may include other treatments. You’ll receive a detailed breakdown of the cost at the end of your consultation with Dr. Arslanian.
