The first step on the road to a Facelift in Atlanta is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Arslanian. What to expect on the day of Facelift surgery

The first step is to administer a type of anesthesia, which is administered for your comfort during the surgical procedure. The choices include intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. Dr. Arslanian will recommend the best choice for you.

Next, he will make the incision. The type of incision will depend on whether you are opting for a traditional facelift, a mini facelift, or a deep plane facelift.

A traditional Facelift incision starts at your temples in the hairline. It continues down and around the front of the ears. It ends behind the ears in the lower scalp. An incision might be made under the chin to improve the appearance of your neck.
A Mini-Facelift procedure incision site itself typically begins in front of the ear, where it follows the natural skin crease separating the cartilage part of the upper ear from the facial skin. The incision then follows the curvature of the ear, behind the tragus which is situated just in front of the ear canal. The incision then follows the natural crease around the earlobe and in the crease behind the ear.
For a Deep Plane Facelift, the incisions are made in the hairline and around the ear. These will be carefully made to ensure scarring is kept to a minimum. Dr. Arslanian will use these incisions to tighten and secure the layer of connective tissue and underlying muscles beneath the skin. He will release ligaments at a deeper level to lift and rejuvenate the skin and reposition the layer of muscle and tissues.
For a Profound RF Facelift, Dr. Arslanian will either apply the Profound dermal cartridge or the Profound SubQ Cartridge. These cartridges deliver the same levels of RF energy but differ in needle amounts for varying coverage. The dermal cartridge has five needles and the SubQ cartridge has seven needles. Both the Profound Dermal Cartridge and the Profound SubQ Cartridge contain slim needles that act as electrodes. When applied, these needles will deliver radiofrequency waves that will send heat deep into the dermis layer of the skin. Micro-lesions will be created that help to boost the health of your skin and smooth out the surface. The Profound Dermal Cartridge will cover less space than the Profound SubQ Cartridge because of the difference in needle amounts. A treatment cream will be applied to your face after the Profound RF procedure is complete. This cream will calm down your skin and hydrate it.

Once the type of incision has been made, any excess fatty tissue is removed and your facial skin is re-draped over the newly repositioned contours of the face.

Finally, the incisons will be closed with sutures that may dissolve or may need to be removed after a few days. Some plastic surgeons also use skin glues to seal the incisions. Once healed, the incision lines from a facelift are well concealed within the hairline and in the natural contours of the face and ear.

A face-lift generally takes 3 to 6 hours. But it might take longer if other cosmetic procedures are done at the same time.

Facelift recovery?

Within 24 hours of your first incision, you will begin the healing process at home. Dr. Arslanian will prescribe pain medicine to help you through the first week. During your first week of recovery, you will likely be swollen and have some bruising.

Patience is the most important prescription. Your results can continue to improve over the course of the year.

You can come in to have any sutures removed in one week. You will keep your head elevated and iced to minimize swelling. After a fortnight of taking it easy, you should be able to go out in public and start wearing makeup again. However, swelling can take a good four to six weeks to resolve.
